Luke McCarty joined McPherson Financial Group in September 2019 as a senior financial advisor. Luke has been in the financial services industry since 2009 and holds industry licenses and designations, which include: Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®), Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®), life, health, and variable insurance licenses in the state of Florida. He also holds FINRA Series 7 (General Securities Representative) with World Equity Group, Inc. and Series 66 (Combined State Securities and Investment Advisory Law) licenses.
Luke served as a vice president of UMB Bank in Kansas City, Missouri, in the private wealth division. Luke’s role with UMB involved financial planning for high-net-worth clients totaling more than $1 billion in assets. He also worked closely with the portfolio managers to determine the appropriate allocations and helped coordinate the investment strategies for clients. Luke’s financial planning experience incorporates the six steps defined by the CFP Board’s “Standards of Professional Conduct”:
1.Establishing and defining the client-planner relationship
2.Gathering client data including goals
3.Analyzing and evaluating the client’s current financial status
4.Developing and presenting recommendations and/or alternatives
5.Implementing the recommendations
6.Monitoring the recommendation
Prior to UMB Bank, Luke was a financial advisor with an independent firm, Raymond James. At Financial Solutions, LLC, he personalized financial plans, managed portfolios, and provided financial advice. Before Raymond James, Luke was a tax accountant at a regional certified public accounting firm, Montgomery Coscia Greilich, LLP, in Dallas, Texas. It was there that he established the foundation for his career.
As a senior tax accountant, Luke helped individuals, partnerships, and corporations minimize their tax burdens by offering year-round tax advice. As a chartered retirement planning counselor, Luke helps clients define a road map to retirement, enabling him to focus on their pre- and post-retirement needs, as well as issues related to asset management and estate planning.
A graduate of Missouri Southern State University, Luke double majored in accounting and finance while being a member of the Missouri Southern Lions football program and the vice president of the investment club.
Luke and his family relocated to Viera from the Kansas City area. He and his wife, Stacy, recently welcomed their first son, Jack, and also have a goldendoodle named Chief. They have been enjoying the warm weather and beaches Florida has to offer. Luke is a diehard Kansas City Chiefs fan and continually hopes that this will finally be the year!

Alternative investments have unique risks and are not suitable for all investors. Alternative investment products, including hedge funds, commodity hedged accounts and managed futures, involve a high degree of risk, often engage in leveraging and other speculative investment practices that may increase the risk of investment loss, can be highly illiquid, are not required to provide periodic pricing or valuation information to investors, may involve complex tax structures and delays in distributing important tax information, are not subject to the same regulatory requirements as mutual funds, often charge high fees which may offset any trading profits, and in many cases the underlying investments are not transparent and are known only to the investment manager.
Alternative investment performance can be volatile. An investor could lose all or a substantial amount of his or her investment. Often, alternative investment fund and account managers have total trading authority over their funds or accounts; the use of a single advisor applying generally similar trading programs could mean lack of diversification and, consequently, higher risk. There is often no secondary market for an investor’s interest in alternative investments, and none is expected to develop. There may be restrictions on transferring interests in any alternative investment. Alternative investment products can execute a substantial portion of their trades on non-U.S. exchanges. Investing in foreign markets may entail risks that differ from those associated with investments in U.S. markets.
